Wintec Presentation

Education

At Wintec I am currently working towards my Certificate in IT Level 5, the first step on my journey to a Bachelors Degree in IT. I am currently working on modules that include web design, programming, IT in business, and computer hardware disassembly, assembly and troubleshooting.

I have achieved the Certificate in Outdoor Experiences (Level 3) while in the NZDF and completed the NZ Certificate in Study and Employment Pathways (Health, Level 3) through correspondence while I was working as a farm assistant. Both have been extremely helpful in preparing myself for higher level study.

In this course I am working on the following modules:

COMP501 Information Technology Operations

I am learning the assembly and disassembly of computers, troubleshooting common faults, and safe working practices with electrical equipment.

COMP502 Fundamentals of Programming and Problem Solving

I am gaining an introduction to programming with Python. This module is also developing my soft skills in critical thinking and problem solving. I am learning to debug and analyze code using efficient and logical methods.

COMP506 Interactive Digital Media

I am learning how to design and code websites using HTML and CSS. I am developing my team work skills as I work with other students to problem solve bugs and discover more efficient and user-friendly ways to design digital interfaces. Time management has been extremely important to success in this class, as assessments take a lot of extra work behind the scenes while also prioritising assignments from other modules.

INFO507 Fundamentals of Information Systems

I have been learning about the impact of IT on business and also gaining an introduction to database modelling. This has been the module that has helped me develop my team work skills the most, as many of our projects are completed in groups. Working with different personalities to accomplish a shared task in a given timeframe has been a really fulfilling challenge. We have also started learning the basics of Microsoft Access.
